Montilla and the wine country south of the city, where Montilla-Moriles is made. ⚠️ Bodegas generally need arranging in advance.
Zuheros and the villages of the Subbética — white houses stacked under a castle rock, with caves nearby. This needs a car to do properly.
Priego de Córdoba, for baroque churches well out of proportion to the size of the town.

Córdoba sits on the high-speed line, which puts Seville and Málaga within an easy day and Madrid within a long one. Granada is reachable but slower and is better as an overnight than a day trip.
